Weekend
We made a mad dash back home this weekend to help celebrate Meredith Grace's 7th birthday. We went down to my mom's Saturday and then spent the night with Clay's parents Saturday night.
Audrey was as sweet as pie in both places. She is a good little traveler! Here are some updates on what is going on in her little life.
Thursday night she had some trouble eating her bottle. She would stop eating and throw her head back and cry. I thought she was just being fussy but then Friday morning I noticed a sore on the roof of her mouth toward the back. Don't ask me how I saw it!! And like the good little first time momma that I am, I freaked out! I called the doctor right then and there and within an hour and a half I was standing in the doctor's office with Audrey. They looked her over and said that she must have a cold which would cause the ulcer in her mouth. Hmmmm... Keep in mind that the Tuesday before that was the day we got the all clear to take her out in public. I took her to the Hobby Lobby, Costco and Zoe's Wednesday. She got a cold that fast!?!?!? Anyway, they told us to just watch the sore and call them back if it didn't get any better in 5 days. It was gone by Sunday night. That ulcer was the only cold symptom she exhibited so I don't think she really had a cold.
Her favorite things to do these days are to suck on her hands, stare at the ceiling fan, and eat, eat, eat. She has noticed Sweet Pea and will watch her run by if she is on the floor near her. She doesn't like to be "cradled" unless she is sleepy. She wants to be held up on our shoulders so she can look around. Just yesterday she started paying attention to a squeeky toy that I found at Target. It is a cow with vivid black and white print and has all kinds of different textures on it. She loves it. She is also sleeping wonderfully at night. I've been afraid to post this about her because I was afraid I would jinx it but she sleeps from around 8-9:00 each night to about 4-5:00 in the morning. We love it!! At 5:00, Clay feeds her and then puts her back to bed. Some mornings I get her and put her in the bed with me. This morning she slept until 7:00!!
She is holding her head up when she is on her tummy but she doesn't like it one bit. She will fuss and fuss until we turn her back over. She likes it better when I put her on the Boppy and let her get her tummy time that way.
She has also become more mobile lately. She can roll herself over on her side but she can't roll completely over just yet. She can also scoot around with the best of them! This is what she looks like when we go to her in the mornings. She starts the night out in a horizontal position but by the time morning rolls around, she has manipulated her body into this vertical position. Some mornings she has scooted all the way down to the end of the bassinet!!

Clay's cousin Payton came by Sunday to eat lunch with us and to meet Audrey. He brought his dog named Audrey (HA!) and a toy for he and Clay to play with. He'd made a mini-bike using his mom's old pressure washer motor. Clay had a great time riding that little bike!!

Finally, here are some cutie-patootie pictures of Audrey from this weekend.

Independence Day
Today was Audrey's 2 month check-up! If you will recall, I almost had a breakdown the last time I took her to the doctor when they gave her a shot. This time she had to have four so I took Clay for support. I had described how terrible it was for her so many times to Clay that he was prepared to be there for Audrey. I, on the other hand, had intended to "be there" but I was just going to be at the check-out counter paying our co-pay during all the shot giving. We came up with the plan that I would stay in the room with Clay and Audrey during the time Dr. L was with us so that I could ask him all of my questions. I had a LIST of them!! Dr. L said that all of his teacher mommas come with lists so I am not alone. :) After Dr. L left, then I would sneak out and wait for Clay and the screaming baby at the door. Well, when push came to shove, I just couldn't leave her in there with just Clay. I thought she needed both of us for four shots!! It turned out that the nurse did it amazingly fast. I was able to jerk Audrey up for some hugs and kisses fairly quickly after I layed her down on the table. Clay was scrambling around looking for some tissue. Yes, I teared up. No, I didn't have full on tears like last time. I did better. Clllaaaayyyy said that he thought it went pretty well. He sssaaaaiiddd that it was bad but it was over so fast! He said Audrey didn't cry for long. He's right, she didn't, but still. It hurt.
Clay and I had made a friendly little wager on how much Audrey would weigh. If I won, I had to buy lunch. If he won, he would buy. He won. We ate at Subway and he still bought lunch. His guess was 10lbs 8oz and mine was over 11lbs. She weighs.... a whopping 10lbs 9ozs (Clay is for hire if any of you are going to Biloxi). She is also 22 3/4 inches long. The doctor was pretty amazed at her increase in height until Clay told him that she was measured incorrectly the last time we were there! LOL!!
On our way out the door to go to the doctor...

When we got home...

And finally-- a sweet treat from Clay that arrived unexpectedly last week...

Oh, yeah!! Since it is past the "2 month" mark we can now take Audrey out!! YAY!! I think our first trip may be to buy Halloween Candy for our friend Kelly's party tomorrow at Costco with Aunt Melissa. If all goes well we will go out to lunch also!

Oldies but Goodies
I ran across these photos the other day when I was going through our old pictures looking for my baby photos. I'm sure my students will get a kick out of these (the girls--ladies--in them will also)!! They are from my high school days. I have some somewhere of elementary school also. I'll post those whenever I can get my hands on them. I went to a school that was K-12. I met the girls that are in these photos when we were in Kindergarten! I am sure that is hard for my students to fathom up here. When I graduated high school, the school only had around 400 students K-12. I don't think it has many more now! :)

"Paw-Paw"-razzi
I had to go to the doctor for a routine check-up Thursday so Mrs. Watts came up Wednesday night and kept Audrey for us. She had been to Destin last weekend and did she ever go shopping!! She brought back the cutest little fall outfits for Audrey! Her friend, Diane, also has a granddaughter so the two of them shopped and shopped for their grandbabies. Here are some photos of some of the outfits she brought. These are the ones that are not size 0-3 months. All of those are waiting to be washed so she can wear them.
