Green Thumbs
Clay and I planted some watermelons in one of our flower beds. Yeah-- redneck I know. We've been watching these plants and loving on them hoping they will give us some watermelon. They did. Three of them actually. We "harvested" them this afternoon and this is what we got.

What happened to them!?!?! Why did we have beautiful baby watermelon plants yesterday and then have the ends shrivel up today? You just don't know the disappointment!
Please check out the video of Audrey telling us what a goose says that I posted earlier today. It is much more interesting than my shriveled up watermelons.

Goose
My momma and daddy gave Audrey a see-n-say for Christmas and for the past couple of weeks we have been playing with it after our morning bottle. She particularly likes the goose sound. :) Here she is giving her best rendition of what a goose "says".
We are also working on being able to point to our nose. You'll see her do her best at that also! She hasn't quite mastered that but we think she is cute, cute trying to do it!
Oh, yeah-- she loves fudge popsicles-- we were sharing one after dinner last night.

I was trying to capture Audrey walking on video but instead, I got this...
We have so much fun around here!!! What in the world did I do with myself before she came??!?!? I have such a hard time not smothering this sweet girl with kisses all day!

July 4th and such
I am no longer going to be making my images large because I want to use this blog as a scrapbook and I can't find a blog book that can get the images from an outside source! Boo! Hiss! If anyone knows of one, please fill me in! I like the pictures much better in the big sizes.
Audrey's last day of being contagious from the Hand/Foot/Mouth disease was the morning of July 4th. Because of that, we had to pass on the July 4th party that would have about 20 kiddos there! We instead went to the Freedom Celebration downtown. Yep, we were around about a 1000 children instead! Just kidding! She was fever and rash free for well over 48 hours at that point so we knew she was fine. We did have a great time downtown!

A sweet friend from high school/ college came up this past week for a visit! We love having company!! Audrey really loved having Ivy Rose to play with her. That sweet, little Ivy is the best behaved child! She just played with and watched over Audrey the whole time she was here. Her favorite thing about the whole trip (I think) was watching Audrey sleep on the "phone" (video monitor).

We took the girls to the zoo and Ivy wanted to ride a camel. I thought she would be scared to climb that high up and ride but not her! This little 3 year old isn't scared of anything!!

Here's a picture of Tina putting her awesome new camera to use! Ohh.. I think I need a new camera....

They were here Monday through Wednesday and that wasn't long enough!
While Tina and Ivy Rose were here last week, Audrey decided to debut her latest trick. She decided she was going to make good use of those chunky little legs and walk!

She took two steps Monday and three Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday she just did a couple here and a couple there. She's not taken a step since then! I guess she tried it out, decided she didn't like it and quit! That's fine by me because I happen to enjoy holding her!
She has also been perfecting her fit-pitching. When we do something she doesn't like, or want to do, such as pick her up, put her down, take something from her, not give her something, etc. she will drop down on all fours and bang her head on the floor! As a result of the trying to walk and the new method of expression, she has quite a few bruises on her forehead and legs! A lady in Target actually asked me how she got so many bruises! My friends from church tell me that their children quickly learned to lower their heads "sloowwly" when they get frustrated. Hopefully little Audrey will catch on to that bit of "cause and effect" quickly also!
On a side note, school supplies are in the stores!!! This is the first year in FOREVER (other than last year but I was preoccupied with waiting for Audrey and I didn't notice!) that I will not be buying supplies for my classroom! I am a little sad about that. Getting my room ready for my new batch of students was always so much fun! I am also sad that my teacher friends all have to go back to work in a month! I am enjoying them being off with me!
