Kindermusik

For Christmas this year, Clay gave Audrey and myself Kindermusik classes. I say "Audrey and MYSELF" because it gives us something fun to do together every Wednesday. Something I don't have to come up with, plan for or gather supplies for. I love that! The classes started at the end of January and will continue through May.

Kindermusik is basically a music and movement class. Those are two things that Audrey loves so I knew she would love to go shake her little booty! Plus, I love seeing her do it!  The classes last about 45 minutes and Audrey is on the move from the time we get there until the time we leave. She's not always doing what she's "supposed" to do but this momma isn't too concerned about that.

For example, this picture was taken during the middle of class. I am running around in a circle singing and dancing and Audrey is in the corner rolling on the floor.

She's having fun. That's all that matters, right?

In this picture, her teacher had asked someone to point to the elephant in the book.
Sweet little Audrey is pointing to the train. I love this girl!!

At one point in every class we have "quiet" time. The music is very soft and we play with scarves. This activity always gets Audrey's attention.

Toward the end of the class, the teacher dumps out a huge tub of various instruments for the children to play and explore. Audrey usually tries the ones that her friends have (remember this post) but then settles on the drums. She has a new innovative use for them though. They are a nice pedestal for her bells!

Audrey loves going to this class and it was a great Christmas present. Now, when it's over in May, I think we will replace it with swimming lessons! I did them with her last year and she loved it! I love seeing her little tooshie in a swimsuit too so that's added bonus!

On a side note, the stomach bug has hit our house this weekend! It started with me Friday night and moved to Clay last night. We've been diligently praying that sweet Audrey doesn't get it from us! I don't think I've ever used as much Lysol as I have this weekend. If it rears it's ugly head in the same pattern as it did us, then she should be sick before 10:00 PM tonight and over it before 10:00 PM tomorrow night. Please pray for her-- it's an awful virus and I can't imagine a body as small as hers having to go through it!

One positive, I lost 6 pounds in 2 days! Clay hasn't told me what he's lost. I could stand to lose about 20 more but Clay doesn't have that to lose! Audrey certainly can't lose that much!!

** As of 8:23 PM on Monday night, Audrey hasn't gotten sick! She doesn't even show any sort of symptom! She's eating like a champ and is her regular, cheery self! Prayer works, people! Thank you!**

As for Clay, he's still under the weather. He did go into work but went in late and didn't stay all day. Then when he got home, he took a nap. Oh, and he's lost 5 pounds :( and I've gained mine back already! LOL!

Potato Farming

Audrey and I went down to visit my parents this past weekend. While we were there, Audrey got a little "farming" done.  My daddy needed someone to help him plant potatoes and Audrey fit the job description to a "T"!

The "seeds"!

Throwing the potato chunks into the trenches with Paw Paw.

Taking a break--

Helping Paw Paw cover up the potatoes.

She noticed that Mommy was further away than she liked!

Dirty, Dirty little shoes-- that wipe off easily!

Formally white socks that got put in the trash!

Examining her dirty socks with Paw Paw. She's never had socks this dirty!

Just looking cute!!

Not only did Audrey plant potatoes this weekend but she rode the Rhino and the golf cart a million-ga-zillion times, went to Wal-Mart both Saturday and Sunday and saw a chicken in the parking lot of Wal-Mart Sunday, decided she liked the looks of bumble bees but didn't like to be around them, played with "Paaaaattttyyy", the dog, went to bed 2 hours past her bedtime and woke up at 3:00 AM ready to go, and finally, skipped all her naps! She was having too much fun to nap but her Mommy was walking around like a zombie! Fun times!

St. Patty's Day!

Me: Audrey, come over here and stand by your table so I can take your picture.
Audrey:

Me: Audrey, please stand so I can get a picture of you in your dress.
Audrey:

Me: Stand, please, so I can take a picture of how cute you are!
Audrey:

Me: I start teasing and playing with her about how silly she is, yadayadayadayada!  I was saying things like, "Oh, Daddy will loove your dress, Oh, Paw Paw wants you to stand up, and where's Sweet Pea?"

Audrey: (sorry this was so blurry, I was trying to manipulate someone smarter than me and I couldn't focus on two things at once!)

 FINALLY!

Here's one from later in the afternoon. Please notice the finger she's pointing at me.  She's been whipping that little finger out a lot recently. Normally, it is accompanied with "No, no, no!".  Once, Clay was trying to comb her hair and she pointed her teeny-tiny finger at him and said, "No! Back, Daddy, Back!" This sweet girl keeps us laughing!

I'm ending this post with a photo of a green goat. Savannah, GA takes this St. Patrick's Day stuff pretty seriously. The schools are closed and they dye all the fountain water green in all the parks. They even once tried to dye the Savannah River green but that didn't work out so well. When we lived there, we made sure to experience the St. Patrick's Day parade- and an experience it was! This rowdy goat was one of many strange things we saw. Everyone should try to make at least one Savannah St. Patrick's Day parade in their lifetime-- but definitely without the kiddos!

Daddy Date

Clay's working his last outage until the fall and that means he has to work Saturdays and some Sundays. He is at work today and he invited us to come out and meet him for a little lunch date.

Audrey picked out some beautiful bows to wear with her little dress!

Here she is having a little "Marilyn Monroe" moment on the air conditioning vent.

This was when we got back. She was calling Clay and saying, "lo? daddy, daddy, daddy, lo?"

Kitty

Now that spring is starting to come around, Audrey and I are making a point to get outside everyday that it doesn't rain! She has always loved riding in her wagon so I walk her around my neighborhood almost everyday that the weather is cooperating. Near the end of my street is a house where a calico cat lives .

I've never met the people who live there, but we are plenty acquainted with their cat. The house is at the top of a hill and as soon as we near the top, Audrey and I start calling for the kitty to come. She LOVES this cat! Surprisingly enough, I think the cat loves Audrey too! It will come RUNNING whenever we call it! It's a very friendly little thing.

Parts of me wish that cat would just follow us home one day.

I don't think there is a chance of that ever occuring though. It just uses us for the lovin' and when it's done-- it's done! Back to his porch he goes!

I've tried to talk Clay into getting a cat but his response is, "What would you do with it when it gets really cold in the winter?". I always respond with, "We'll put it in the basement." and he ALWAYS says, "Then it'll just go to the bathroom everywhere and climb all over the cars-- scratching them up." The conversation usually ends at that point. I think I am going to have to bring it up again. Anyone have a rebuttal to his poop/scratchy defense?

I don't even want it to live in the house. Audrey terrorizes Sweet Pea enough! I think a cat would send her to her grave. :)

Describing Audrey

Audrey, at 18 months, is full of life and joy. The past updates I've done on Audrey have been about her accomplishments and the milestones she's met. This post will be like that too but I won't be listing all the words she can say like I've done previously. This girl can talk! The entire post would be about the words she says if I did that-- but I will write about the sweetest ones she says that we absolutely love. I really just love the pure, innocent sound of her sweet little toddler voice!
  • She will say, "illovu" when asked to say, "I love you".
  • When Clay is at work and I ask her, "Where's Daddy?" She'll respond with a rowdy, "wort" almost everytime.

  • She is a big milk drinker and is pretty demanding when she wants it. She will repeat, "milp, milp, milp", over and over and over until we get it made for her.

  • She will call for me when she wakes by first quietly saying, "maaammmyyy", if I don't come then she'll resort to a little louder, "mooooommmmy", and finally-- when she's frustrated-- "MOMMA!!". I love to hear her call my name!
  • After we say our blessing before meals, she will wait for us to look at her, bow her head, lift it up and say, "MEN!" rather than "amen".  She once did this while she was sitting at her little table that Santa brought her. She was right in the middle of eating her snack and she bowed her head and yelled, "Men!"

  • She puts her babydoll highchair right next to hers in the kitchen during meals. If Audrey gets grapes for dinner or snack-- we have to give the baby some on her highchair too. When Audrey finishes eating, she promptly eats her baby's food as well!
  • Likes to clean ("keen") and will get wipes from under the kitchen sink to clean up her messes.

  • Has "up" and "down" and "push" and "pull" confused. Wants me to "push"    her in the wagon and "pull" her on her Cozy Coupe Car!
  • Can identify all her body parts including random ones such as her tongue, neck, teeth, elbow, wrist and hips. We are working on shins, calves, and ankles.
  • Takes off her pants and diaper and tells me it needs to go in the trash. Will then lie down and tell me to "keen"-- or in other words give her a new diaper.
  • Identifies the colors blue, purple, pink, white and "geen". Can sing many songs but looooovvvess "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes". She can point to the appropriate body parts as she sings but skips shoulders and knees and just does head and toes.
  •  Her friend, Jackson, gave her some mini M&M's for Valentines Day. That was the first time she'd ever had them and she loved them! I now keep them in my purse and pull them out when we are in restaurants and she has hit her "limit". They will usually buy us 5 or 10 more minutes!
  • She loves new clothes, shoes, hair bows, or jewelry. She says these things are "pweettyy" (pretty) and "toot" (cute).
  • She picks out her hair bows every morning. She always goes for the largest, wildest bow she can lay her eyes on. Lately, she's even wanted more than one bow in her hair! I let her wear them until we leave the house. :)
  • She's a tad obsessed with socks. No one can walk around the house without socks on!

  • She's always enjoyed playing hide-n-seek but she has changed her strategy lately. Rather than hiding herself, she hides objects/toys under her legs (while sitting) and throws her hands up in the "where is it?" sign. She loves for us to find it and tickle her to pieces!

  • She is really into rocking ("rock, rock") her baby dolls and feeding them a bottle.

  • Her favorite thing to do is still to just play outside.

  • Clay makes her a bowl of chocolate ice cream every night before bed. She's now realized where it is and what it is and will request "cream" at random times throughout the day. Such as right before we brush her teeth, in the middle of putting her clothes on, etc.

  • Clay gives her a bath every night. She loves the idea of a bath and will tell him when it is time to go take the bath but she screams and cries when it is actually time to take the bath!
  • After the bath, Clay gives her what we call "Baby Spa". He slathers her down with lotion. Clay refers to the lotion as cream rather than "lotion". She loves it and will point to the bottle of lotion and ask us to give her "cream". She'll rub it on her legs, hands and cheeks and then come back for more!
  • She's in a "mommy" phase right now and has been for about a month. I am reveling in it while it lasts!
  • She's just now started to want her babydolls, lovies, etc. to sleep with her at night or during naptimes.

We love her dearly and are so thankful we have this sweet girl! Thanks for hanging in there and reading to the end-- you must love us if you did! :)
