We packed up our entire house and moved to the beach. Oh, yes. The whole. house. It took Clay's entire truck packed to the brim as well as my car. We left our house at 9:30 and finally made it down here at 6:00pm. Obviously, we stopped many times because it should have only taken us 5 hours.
When we got here all we did was unpack and crash. Nothing exciting. We got acquainted with our condo, cleaned a little, washed clothes, cooked supper and went to the grocery store very late at night. All the things I would normally do while at home.

Helper
Audrey was helping me pack for our trip to the beach when she got really quiet. She is not a child that has ever "gotten into" anything much. I guess she just never found anything she was interested in exploring until now. This would be Urban Decay's Rockstar all over her face--- not the Cover Girl! :D
At least she has good taste. I guess.

The second and third days..
Clay, Mr. Gerald and I went on a four wheeler ride with a whole slew of people. Most of them were either members of the White Oak Community or were friends of theirs. The trip started early and lasted about 4 hours or so. It was the most fun I've had in a long time. When you ride through the mountains on horseback or ATV, you can see so much more than if you are in a vehicle. I am not that much of a fan of horseback riding but I can ride a four-wheeler!! There were some moments that were a little scary but we also got to see some beautiful country!
This is Clay before we left. Everyone was suited up like this- including me. It was so dry and dusty that we all came back covered in red dirt. I had dirt waaaayy down deep in my ears and it felt like it took three showers to get it out!
This pond was beautiful and I wanted to include the picture but the people we were with said they wouldn't swim in it. Apparently it is this gorgeous color because of chemical wash off from mining.
In the White Oak Community, there is a cave that we had never been to before. After our ATV ride, Mr. Gerald took us all down to check it out. It was pretty impressive! I wish I had a lens that would capture it all but just take my word for it, it was pretty big!
I am standing about half way inside the cave at this point. That is a pool of water in the back. There were salamanders, frogs and all kinds of other critters living in that pool!

Audrey loved every bit of this little adventure and wasn't afraid one bit. She just went wherever Clay went-- his little sidekick!
I can't remember how many of these little rooms there were but there were quite a few. They were pretty high up and looked like the perfect spot for a bear to live. They honestly gave me the heeby-jeebies and once I saw them, I started thinking of all sorts of things that could be in that cave with us. You know, bears, bats, snakes, monsters.... I got Audrey and took off back to the truck because all good Mommas take care of their young and leave the menfolk to fight off the scary stuff.
I did get one picture of Audrey and Clay inside one of those rooms-- very cool experience but creepy at the same time. Obviously we know where Audrey gets her active imagination from.
The rest of the trip consisted of more cave exploration but this time it was a smaller one on our property, Shelby Claire practicing her crawling, and Audrey getting to ride in a carriage at the block party. She loved the idea of riding in a carriage like Cinderella but in the end decided that "horses are stinky".

Traveling with two isn't easy..
We went up to Tennessee for Labor Day weekend and it was quite a trip. We had a lot of fun but it takes A LOT of stuff to travel with two little ones! Clay started packing the weekend before we left and we were still throwing stuff in the car at the last minute.
We left Friday morning and for the first time ever, let Audrey ride in her PJ's. I tell y'all, that was the highlight of the day for her! She loved being able to leave the house and actually go inside McDonald's in her pajamas. Inititally, we were only going to let her ride in them until we had breakfast (about an hour or so from our house) but she was enjoying herself so much that she ended up wearing them for most of the day.
It seems like anytime we travel, it takes us twice as long to get where we are going as it should. We always stop about every hour or so to give the girls some time out of their carseats. One of our favorite spots to stop on the way the mountains is the Cumberland Mountain State Park. It has nice restrooms, great shady picnic spots and most importantly- fun playgrounds.
Once we finally made it to the cabin, both girls were ready for some serious playtime. We took off in the gator and four-wheeler and went to a creek that is in the neighborhood. It has a concrete crossing that was made for horses to easily cross the water but it is the perfect spot for our girls to get some outdoor play in!
We stayed at the creek for a good long time before heading back to the cabin to play there. This picture of Shelby Claire cracks me up because it is the perfect picture of the kind of play we do while we are there-- laid back and easy. No stress!
The first night, Clay slept in the bedroom with the girls and I slept on the sleeper sofa. Audrey couldn't quite take that though and climbed into the bed with Clay- if you've ever slept with a child you know that it isn't easy! She ended up sleeping on his head (no joke) the majority of the night. The second night, we both slept on the sleeper and the third night, I slept with the girls.

This is the first time we've been to the mountains since we had Shelby Claire so we had to do some creative thinking in regards to how everyone was going to sleep. The cabin has one bedroom with a king size bed and a queen size sleeper sofa. Both beds are super comfy but we had to figure out how to sleep with the girls being in the same room with us.
We ended up putting Shelby Claire in the closet in her pack-n-play. It was perfect. Mrs. Watts got Audrey a cute little cot with princess bedding and she was good to go!
