Independence Day

Today was Audrey's 2 month check-up! If you will recall, I almost had a breakdown the last time I took her to the doctor when they gave her a shot. This time she had to have four so I took Clay for support. I had described how terrible it was for her so many times to Clay that he was prepared to be there for Audrey. I, on the other hand, had intended to "be there" but I was just going to be at the check-out counter paying our co-pay during all the shot giving. We came up with the plan that I would stay in the room with Clay and Audrey during the time Dr. L was with us so that I could ask him all of my questions. I had a LIST of them!! Dr. L said that all of his teacher mommas come with lists so I am not alone. :) After Dr. L left, then I would sneak out and wait for Clay and the screaming baby at the door. Well, when push came to shove, I just couldn't leave her in there with just Clay. I thought she needed both of us for four shots!! It turned out that the nurse did it amazingly fast. I was able to jerk Audrey up for some hugs and kisses fairly quickly after I layed her down on the table. Clay was scrambling around looking for some tissue. Yes, I teared up. No, I didn't have full on tears like last time. I did better. Clllaaaayyyy said that he thought it went pretty well. He sssaaaaiiddd that it was bad but it was over so fast! He said Audrey didn't cry for long. He's right, she didn't, but still. It hurt.

Clay and I had made a friendly little wager on how much Audrey would weigh. If I won, I had to buy lunch. If he won, he would buy. He won. We ate at Subway and he still bought lunch. His guess was 10lbs 8oz and mine was over 11lbs. She weighs.... a whopping 10lbs 9ozs (Clay is for hire if any of you are going to Biloxi). She is also 22 3/4 inches long. The doctor was pretty amazed at her increase in height until Clay told him that she was measured incorrectly the last time we were there! LOL!!

On our way out the door to go to the doctor...

When we got home...

And finally-- a sweet treat from Clay that arrived unexpectedly last week...

Oh, yeah!! Since it is past the "2 month" mark we can now take Audrey out!! YAY!! I think our first trip may be to buy Halloween Candy for our friend Kelly's party tomorrow at Costco with Aunt Melissa. If all goes well we will go out to lunch also!

I can't believe how much she has grown! I LOVE the picture of her smiling! She looks so grown up! I am glad you are "free" now! Enjoy yourself!

Audrey is so adorable with her big smile. I am glad she made it past another round of shots. It seems like the older they get the worse it is on them. We are dreading taking the girls for their flu shots. It takes Jason and me and several nurses to hold Anna down for her shots. Emily usually isn't too bad if we let her go first.

I love the pic of her passed out! That's how I feel sometimes! LOL! Those shots can be agonizing for both the baby and mama!!! What a sweet hubby to buy you those beautiful flowers....good job, Clay!

I love the picture of her smiling so big. Bless her heart, she just didn't know what was coming! I know what you mean about the shots...it sure is hard to stand there, especially when they are looking up at you like "Why are you letting them do this to me, Mama?" You've still got a long way to go...lots more shots ahead unfortunately!
That was so sweet of Clay to surprise you with flowers! I love surprises and I love flowers!!
Hope y'all get to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the smiling picture. Look at that big ol' bow!! She is precious.

Seeing them get shots is hard, but they usually bounce back pretty fast. One time when Katherine was about 6 or 8 months old, she got her finger pricked to test for the flu. She didn't even cry, but she grunted pretty loudly at the nurse. I just laughed and told the nurse that was her way of telling her off:)
