Mommy Loves Me

We do a lot of talking about who loves who around here and I am constantly telling Audrey we love her. During our bedtime routine we have a song that I sing to her every night that is loosely (very) to the tune of "Jesus Loves Me". I completely made it up when she was itsy-bitsy and for some reason it's stuck. "Mommy loves her little baby, her sweet little baby girl, mommy loves her so, she can't get enough, Mommy loves her little baby girl". Audrey loves to hear it and has started to sing along with me. I love it!

Now, today we were riding in the car and she wasn't in the mood for lovey-dovey's from her momma! She really wanted to watch a DVD but we only watch them when we are going on long car rides so I wouldn't turn it on. She began to whine (how did she learn this so early!?!) and say, "pwwwweeeeaaaassse, Barrrrneeey!" over and over. I said, "Mommy loves you but we are not watching a DVD." and just ignored her for a bit. She quieted down and after a few minutes I said, "Audrey, Mommy loves you!" and she mumbled something and I could tell she was trying to figure out how to say what she wanted to say. Out came, "Not!, Not!". I said, "Not, what?" and what she said next just about made me run off the road!

"Not love Mommy!" "Aw-ry loves Daddy!" I could not BELIEVE she'd put those words together and actually said what she said! No, it didn't hurt my feelings but it sure did make Clay's heart swell!! He loved it!! Thankfully she was back to her sweet self and loving on her Mommy by the time we made it home!
