Summer Reading Program

I took Audrey to a Puppet Show at our library Monday night. It is a part of their summer reading program but I wasn't sure if she would like it or not. Sometimes programs at the library during the summer aren't suited for preschoolers because all of the elementary kids are out of school and the library caters to them. Anyway, we went with Sophie Haris and Audrey absolutely loved it. So much so that we had a bit of a melt down when the show was over!

The show was at 6:30 and I wasn't sure how late it would last so I gave Audrey a bath prior to us leaving. In this photo she has just finished giving me her best impression of Ho, Ho (Santa).

The mark on her forehead is from a tumble she took last week at the science museum. They have a new exhibit and part of it is these huge foam blocks. Audrey built herself a tower, climbed to the top and fell off head first. The mark is a carpet burn! At that same moment, Shelby Claire was fussing her little heart out so I had two crying babies in my arms at one time. Thankfully, a sweet friend took SC so I could see about Audrey. She was pretty pitiful and said she was ready to go home! :D

Blueberry Picking

A group of Audrey's friends from MDO got together and went blueberry picking last weekend. It was opening day so there were tons of blueberries on the bushes. It didn't take Audrey and I long to pick a gallon!

Audrey was in an awesome mood that day. Clay kept Shelby Claire and it was just Audrey and me! We had so much fun!! She loved picking the berries and seeing her friends!

At this point, Audrey started to disrobe. I'm not sure why but she wanted her swim cover up OFF! See Hannah Grace in the sunglasses? Audrey has a pair of those glasses and wouldn't wear them for anything. I got them last year and tried and tried to get her to wear them! Now, if we go outside, she asks me, "where my gasses?"!

After the blueberry picking, Lyric, Audrey and Sophie Haris went to the Splash Pad to cool off. I love that place. To me, there is not a better toddler-friendly summer activity out there. Our splash pad is small, has the squishy rubber floor and is completely fenced in. Heaven! I can sit with Shelby Claire under an umbrella and watch Audrey live it up. Plus, she loves it!!

I love the summer time!! :D

Shelby Claire loves her!

My sweet Audrey is the light of Shelby Claire's life. She watches every move Audrey makes and loooves for Audrey to pay her any attention!

One day last week I was getting Audrey ready to go to MDO and wasn't able to give SC the attention she was wanting at the time. Audrey heard her fussing and loved all over her. She said, "Awww.. Selby Care..don't fuss..sister's here, yes, sister's here" in the sweetest little voice I've ever heard. Shelby Claire LOVED IT! She immediately quit fussing and was in awe of Audrey!

Audrey brought her some toys and played with her with them just like Clay and I do. It made my entire day!!

Audrey's attention span is like most two year olds and only lasts about 5 minutes. She ran off to do something else and this was Shelby Claire's initial reaction.

And then poor Shelby Claire realized Audrey wasn't coming back!!

Sweet Audrey did come back (without me making her!) and all was well in Shelby Claire's world again!

Until someone got carried away with the loving and squished her! HA!

Father's Day

We did our usual tour of south Alabama for Father's Day weekend this year. We started out at my parents' house and then ended up at Clay's parents' house. It was a super fun weekend but exhausting at the same time.

We started out Friday morning by taking Clay out for breakfast to celebrate him being the super daddy he is! His absolute favorite meal is breakfast so I knew that he would enjoy nothing more! I didn't tell him where we were going to eat until we got there. He'd never been before but it is not in the best area of town and he doesn't usually care to go there. I knew he would love it and I wanted him to try it so I didn't tell him! Ha! We went to the Original Pancake House and he did love it! We most likely won't ever go back but he did enjoy the meal anyway!
After we filled our bellies with yummy pancakes, we headed on South to see my family. We cooked out, swam in the pool, made homemade ice cream and just had a good time. I have no idea why but I didn't even get my camera out down there. We spent one night there and then headed to Greenville to see Clay's parents after lunch on Saturday.

They got Audrey and Shelby Claire a little kiddie pool and they both loved it. It was a super hot afternoon but was still pretty enjoyable when you stuck your feet in the pool to cool off!

Clay enjoyed it also!!

Back off ladies, he's all mine! :D

 Random photos from the weekend:

On our way home, we reached 100,000 miles on my car. You will have to peer through the dust to see the odometer. There are many things that were left by the wayside when we had children and the cleanliness of my car is one of them. :)

Smiley got a new outfit and she loves it! I do too but unfortunately she won't be able to wear it again because it is SNUG on this chunky little monkey!!

Smiley also practiced and practiced rolling over all weekend. She grunted and strained and finally had success Monday morning. She'd just turned four months old.

Part of Clay's Father's Day gift from Audrey was this beautiful tie that she made him at school-- he loved it!! He wore it proudly and it is now hanging on our refrigerator!

Overall we had a great weekend of celebrating all the daddies in our lives. I wish I had gotten a picture of me with my daddy! :(

I am so tired..

... I could fall asleep in this bumbo if I had to! Thank goodness my mommy likes to rock her babies.

Audrey is...

four months old!! Ha! Audrey loves to pretend she is a baby and have us "change her diaper", give her a "bottle", etc. The other night when we were taking SC's four month pictures, Audrey decided she wanted in on the action. Here she is pretending she is Shelby Claire.

Now she's telling us how old she really is-- TWO!

Speaking of pretending, Audrey's favorite game is "pretend". Currently, she is pretending to be my niece, Gracie. We have to call her Gracie and she tells us that she lives in Andalusia at Granny and Paw Paw's house. She's very insistent with her tranformation into Meredith Grace. I decided to try to take advantage of this new desire to be a big kid.  Audrey has been potty-trained since November except during sleep times. At nap and at night she wears a pull-up. I told her that Gracie didn't wear pull-ups and what do you know?! Audrey doesn't wear them anymore at nap now either!!! Whoop-Whoop!! We tried to do the night-time without one and as hard as Audrey tried, her little body just can't hold it all night yet. I think we will try that again in a few months. For now, we are so thankful to have cut the nap one out. Thanks, Gracie!!

"Gracie" also has a few imaginary friends. She has two frogs that she just calls "froggies". They pretty much go with us wherever we go. They sometimes ride on the hood of our car and sometimes have to be strapped into her carseat with her. If I am lucky, they are just put in her pocket. They are michievious little things. One time they ate her food and drank her juice. I had to give her more because the "froggies ate it all"!

She also has a friend named "Lily" that is a boy. He's a really nice boy that plays with us about once a week or so. Finally, there is Martin and Jason. They don't come around as much as Froggies and Lily but when they do, it sure gets crowded around here!!

Shelby Claire Four Months

Our precious girl is now four months old!! She's grown my leaps and bounds this month and is trying out all sorts of tricks.

She loves her bumbo seat!!
And she's earned the nickname "Smiley" because she smiles ALL THE TIME! We love it!
She also drools constantly and has her hands in her mouth as much as she can!!
During her third month, she got her first cold- which she caught from her sister. Not only did Audrey share it with Shelby Claire but also with me and their grandmother, Too, Too. It wasn't just a normal cold. It was a knock you flat on your back cold with fever and extreme fatigue. It was a rough two weeks around here!! It lasted exactly 7 days for all three of us. Thankfully Clay didn't get it!! It was a pitiful sight seeing my two little girls try to fight it off! We had many days of snuggling and cuddleing!

At Shelby Claire's 4 month check-up, she weighed 13 pounds 11 ounces and was 23 3/14" long. She was in the 40 percentile for weight and the 44th for height. She was in the 94th percentile for head circumference. Ha! Just like her sister!! She also got an oral vaccine and 4 shots in her chunky little thighs. It was terrible!! She was smiling and cooing at the nurse and then "WHAM" she stuck her four times! Shelby Claire looked at me with a look of pure betrayal on her face. I know the shots are necessary but err... I don't like them!

Adjusting to having two babies is getting easier as the days go by. Don't get me wrong, it is hard work but we are figuring out how to manage two and each day I figure something out to make it easier. Audrey is adjusting more and more and interacts with Shelby Claire frequently. I'm not sure if that is because she is getting used to her being here or if it is because Shelby Claire responds so positively to Audrey's attention. Either way, I am so thankful. Many random people (grocery store, target, etc.) will ooh and aah over Shelby Claire. Once they are done, they normally will turn to Audrey and ask if she likes being a big sister. She has finally stopped telling them, "no!".
