Smiley at 2

Our little Smiley is growing way too fast for my liking. She will be two years old on the 21st of this month (also her new siblings due date). Some things I want to remember about her at two are as follows:

  • She has a personality that aims to please and really thrives on positive affirmations. In other words, she loves for us to "toot her horn".
  • She loves her Momma and I love that about her.  At this point in her little life she is definitely a "Momma's girl".
    • Can completely operate the iPad, iPod, TV and DVD player. She can find Netflix on the iPad, go to the que, find her favorite show "The Wheels on the Bus" and go to town! She also can find the app "The Wheels on the Bus" on the ipod, pick out a DVD from our DVD's, put it in the DVD player, turn it on and get the DVD player to start! She's pretty amazing!!
    • She is still a climber and will get on top of anything and everything. She also almost always has some sort of bruise or busted lip. I'm told that I was the exact same way when I was a little one.
    • She is thrilled with new clothes. She likes to "strut" and show off new outfits, etc.
    • She has a great attention span. She can sit at our table and color or play with play-doh for at least an hour. She also loves to play with baby dolls-- feeding them, changing them, loving on them, etc.

    • She will walk right into her classroom, carrying her lunchbox and sippy cup as if she is a big girl.  She used to love going to school but since Christmas, she's been much more reluctant to go. She goes 3 days a week. I think this change is because her class size grew from 8 to 12 and maybe her teachers are a little overwhelmed? Who knows but she doesn't like going as much as she used to!
    • Her first friend other than Audrey is a little boy in her class named Nash. She calls him "Nashy" and lights up when she sees him. He has blond hair and she thinks every little blond haired boy we see is her "Nashy". She even calls his mom, "Nashy Mommy".
    • She is just like Audrey in that she loves her sleep. We put her crib in the room with Audrey when she was about 18 months old so we could prepare for our new little baby to come. At bedtime, we put Shelby Claire down at 7:30 and she will play quietly, snuggle in with her lovies and usually by about 20 minutes or so is conked out. She typically sleeps until around 6:00 or 6:30. Audrey is almost always still sleeping!! She is also taking an afternoon nap everyday-- just for an hour or so.

  • She likes books and for us to read with her.
  • She is an independent little one and tries to do everything her sister does. At two, she can brush her own teeth-- even put the toothpaste on the toothbrush. She can buckle the harness of her car seat and tries to snap the latch. She can completely undress herself and can put pants on but not a shirt just yet.
  • She can say a million words and even strings them along into 2-3 word sentences. My favorite things she says right now are "Bye! See you soon!", "Mommy, rock, rock", "Daddy home!!!", and when referring to just about anything will put the "ey" sound on the end. For example, "Nashy", "Juicey", "Susy", "Fishy", etc.
  • Her favorite toy right now is Magna Tiles. Audrey got them for Christmas from Aunt Lesa and both girls have really enjoyed them. They are just triangles and squares that have magnets on the edges that make them really easy to build things with. I guess they are a modern building block.
  • She loves to ride her momma's hip. It doesn't matter to her that I am 9.5 months pregnant and that my hips are well-hidden. She loves for her momma to hold her.
  • She will eat anything. She is definitely not a picky eater at all and it makes this momma's life so easy. Her favorite restaurant is Mexican, loves for me to make cheese tortellini, and enjoys blueberries for snack. She will eat blueberries for as long as you feed them to her!

We love our little Smiley and can't imagine how boring it would be around our house without her here! Audrey is thrilled with her and the two of them are playing really well together at this age. They have started "fussing" a little over things like the iPad and iPod but overall they are very kind and loving to one another. I hope they will always be sweet sisters.
