Beach Day Five

When we woke up this morning I kinda had an "oh, no" moment. It was raining. Our plan was to go to the beach in the morning and since it was raining, that plan was out. I didn't have a plan B and we were in a tiny condo with very little toys. The shopping areas around here are all open air type places so going there and just letting Audrey run around was out too! We decided that Clay would take Audrey to the beach with her raincoat. She would love it and would be highly entertained!
I went about our normal morning routine cooking breakfast, dressing the girls, etc and in the meantime, luckily it quit raining. It was getting close to Shelby Claire's morning nap time so Clay said he would still take Audrey and I would take care of SC and do some laundry. Ha! Turned out that Clay got on the phone with work stuff and I ended up taking Audrey to the beach myself and leaving SC with Clay to nap. Wouldn't you know, as soon as we got to the beach, it started to rain again!? We just stayed out there in it. Audrey could have cared less about the rain and proceeded to get herself covered from head to toe in sand. Clay brought SC down after her nap and we all stayed for a little while to play but SC wasn't feeling it. I ended up taking her back to the condo alone. In all, I'd say it was about 2 hours on the beach this morning and about an hour at the pool.

I opened the french doors in the condo up to the balcony and scooted little missy up to the doorway so she could watch all the goings on outside. She loved it! Our condo is across the street from the beach and she whipped her head back and forth watching the cars go by. Big entertainment for a 6 month old!
After lunch and naps we decided to venture out to Seaside for a little exploring. We'd heard that Dawson's had great yogurt so we headed there first. Audrey picked out Rocky Road and didn't get a drop on her "princess dress". *This dress was given to her by her Too, Too. It is her absolute favorite dress and she would wear it everyday if she could. I do let her anytime it is clean! She loves that it has a full skirt and she says it makes her "bootiful".*

This is Audrey shopping in Seaside. She found a mermaid and wanted to touch it so badly! Clay told her to just put her hands on her hips to keep from touching it!

After shopping and snacking, we headed back to the condo for our afternoon swim. Shelby Claire still wasn't in the mood to swim so after just a bit, Clay came down and got her little fussy self. She is recuperating from a cold and isn't quite living up to her Smiley nickname these days. It won't be long though and she will be feeling well again!
When we got here and went to the pool the first time, Audrey wouldn't let go of me, nor would she get off of the steps. She's gotten a lot braver since we spend so much time in the pool each day. She's gone from the steps, to a few feet away from the steps, to "swimming" to me, and finally today she decided she would JUMP off the side of the pool to me! She is such a cautious one these days. I love that about her. The jellyfish were out yesterday and the day before and we told her to make sure she watched for them because they would sting her. Well, today, she had to make sure to tell me not to go in the water until I looked for the "yellyfish". When I say "water" I don't mean the ocean- I mean the tide pool that we play in everyday. HA! This momma won't be getting in the ocean. *please, please, Audrey, don't ask me to take you in the ocean!*

I did get my face wet on multiple occasions today and it wasn't for the benefit of my own child! Audrey met a little friend at the pool yesterday and she and Audrey play really well together. She is 4 and is a pretty good swimmer. I think I caught her as she jumped into the pool a million times today. Ok- it was only twice but it felt like a million because each time my face was drenched.

We plan to find somewhere to go on rainy days tomorrow, find a playground somewhere and some kind of fast food. The nearest McDonald's is about 20 minutes away (I think) and I am hoping to find something closer. Somewhere I can take Audrey for breakfast! :D I am already missing our Chik-fil-a!
